The problem with status quo is that there really isn't such a thing. On the micro level, with every choice, you're either moving forward or backward.
Breakfast is one such meal that tends to maintain status quo: the same thing, with small variations. A trainer challenged me: Eat greens at every meal. He said, the thermogenic properties of fresh greens gets your metabolism going. He said, it takes more calories to burn fresh greens. I said, sounds unappetizing; my taste buds have their expectations.
Truth is, what you put into your body can completely transform (or destroy) how you feel. We're complex and beautifully designed, meant to run on fresh, clean foods. The reason that I thought I wouldn't like greens for breakfast was because of my status quo. The status quo was keeping me back.
It was really all about my thoughts: The thought of salad for breakfast was completely unappealing. Until I tried it, in "breakfast salad" form: baby spinach, baby greens, shaved carrots, dried cherries and walnuts, apples. Yes, it was good. Yes, after eating, I feel good. Yes, I'll do it again...so that health is #1. In other words, I've decided to change my thoughts about breakfast...which leads to changing feelings ... which leads to changed actions.
And a change in status quo.
